The Kern County Board voted to close Satellite wagering July 30, 2013, citing declining revenues. The surprise is that the number one expense of the gambling facility was the payroll of the Kern fair employees who will be absorbed by the fair.
With the expense of State employees of the fair being the number one reason for lack of profit they will keep their jobs but no longer have satellite wagering to offset their costs.
I have been advised that Horse racing wishes to maintain a presence in Bakersfield via private enterprise, such as existing bar and restaurant
Information regarding such a joint venture is available at the current satellite location.
