Xerox plans to lay off 495 Bakersfield call-center workers

Layoffs will soon hit nearly 500 workers at a call center Xerox Corp. owns on 34th Street.A company spokeswoman said the cutbacks result from a single, unidentified client’s fluctuating demand for call-center help.
