Police report: Machete-wielding man claims he ‘wasn’t trying to kill’ woman

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — The man accused of attacking his ex-girlfriend with a machete at a Starbucks off Stockdale Highway claimed he “wasn’t trying to kill” her, according to a police report obtained Wednesday. Robert Daniel Rivas claimed the victim was his “best” friend. He refused to answer police questions about their dating history, but the victim told officers that the two dated for several years.
