
A man who stabbed his mother 35 times, killing her as she lay sleeping in her bed, is in Superior Court today after requesting a resentencing hearing. Parker Chamberlin was 15 years old when he killed his mother, Torie Knapp, a Bakersfield teacher, in 2001. He received a sentence of 26 years to life for first-degree murder. A bill that was signed into law in June, allowing a prisoner to return to the court where he was sentenced for a hearing to change that sentence. Path to Full Story on 29 Eyewitness News
