New cleanup project will employ 24 people from Bakersfield Homeless Center

Bakersfield received $500,000 from Caltrans to beautify the freeways that run through the city limits. “We are now going to be able to provide crews from the Bakersfield Homeless Center – 24 people getting new jobs – to help clean vegetative debris and litter from our freeways,” Mayor Karen Goh said at a news conference Friday morning. “The partnership with the Homeless Center has become a model and Caltrans is looking to replicate that model because it’s been so successful,” Goh said.
