
The Kern High School District broke ground Thursday on the new Kern Aquatic Complex, located at the southwest corner of Old River and Berkshire roads, just north of Independence High School. It’s the first aquatic facility built by the district in 99 years. The last pool that was built was at Bakersfield High School in 1919. It was demolished in 1938. Student swimmers, divers and water polo players have had to use pools at Bakersfield College, Cal State Bakersfield and even some rec centers. Path to Full Story on 29 Eyewitness News
