Marvin Dean, advocate 'for the disenfranchised,' has died

Marvin Dean, ,66, three-time candidate for Bakersfield City Council Ward 1, died Sunday after a brief illness. Dean grew up in Ward 1 and graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1970. "We’ve lost a Driller who really cared about the Driller Way, but he also cared about his community," Mayor Karen Goh said about Dean. "That’s going to be a loss for our community.
