Man found guilty of strangling woman

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A Kern County jury convicted a man Thursday for murdering a woman last October. Eldrick Richmond is set to be sentenced next month, the Kern County District Attorney’s Office said. Richmond and his victim, Delenna Ruiz, met near Baker and 21st streets. They decided to pool their money to get a motel room for the night, the DA said. The next morning, Ruiz was dead. Richmond claimed he was attacked by Ruiz and acted in self-defense.
