Man dies after crashing into telephone poles

The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving a solo driver. It happened just south of Wheeler Ridge and Herring Roads in south Bakersfield just after 1 a. m. Monday. Officers said a man in his mid-20’s was driving a black Chevy S-10 when he hit a telephone pole. They said he drove off and hit another pole. He died from his injuries.
