Kern River Valley businesses come together to support furloughed government workers

As the government shutdown enters its 27th day, thousands of federal employees, both around the country and here in Kern County, are feeling the pinch. But some local businesses in the Kern River Valley are doing their part to try and ease some of that pain. “The main thing is they can come in and show their government ID and then they can charge a meal here,” said Cheryl Borthick.
