Kern County celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service

Hundreds of people gathered in locations around Kern County to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. “I think it’s just a day that we can remember how Dr. Martin Luther King inspired a generation,” Steven Watkins, director of outreach and school relations for Bakersfield College, said. In Bakersfield, city leaders hosted the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Annual Community Awards Breakfast, where various community members were honored for their contributions.
