Impact hearing held on Dignity, Catholic Health merger

Dignity Health and Catholic Health Initiatives are on the verge of a merger to create a new nonprofit health system. But before the merger is finalized, the California General Attorney’s Office is holding impact hearings in 17 communities up and down the state and asking for public comments. Bakersfield was the site of one of those impact hearings on Tuesday. Local nurses are concerned about the possibility of losing their pensions and their right to collective bargaining.
