From Kern court: Man gets 55 to life for murder

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – A man was sentenced Thursday to 55 years to life in prison for murdering a woman last October. Eldrick Richmond and his victim, Delenna Ruiz, met near Baker and 21st streets. They decided to pool their money to get a motel room for the night, the Kern County District Attorney’s Office said. The next morning, Ruiz was dead. Richmond claimed he was attacked by Ruiz and acted in self-defense. The coroner said Ruiz had been strangled. Path to Full Story on 29 Eyewitness News
