Firefighters douse 8.7-acre blaze south of Walker Basin
Firefighters were able to contain a grass fire spotted shortly after noon Saturday near Caliente Bodfish Road south of Walker Basin.The fire spread across 8.7 acres, threatening homes at Rankin Ranch as it moved quickly up the slope of a canyon, according to the Kern County Fire Department.
