'Disabled motorists' pulling scam on passing drivers

California Highway Patrol is warning drivers about suspicious people posing as disabled motorists trying to scam other motorists. CHP has received several 911 calls about vehicles, mostly SUVs, that seem to be broken down on the side of the road. The occupants of the vehicles flag down drivers and tell them they need money for gas. In exchange, the suspects offer to sell the jewelry they are wearing.
