Children escape house fire in SW Bakersfield

Two children are OK after a fire broke out in their Southwest Bakersfield home. Firefighters responded to the structure fire just before 6 a. m. Wednesday in the 10000 block of Sunset Ranch Drive. Two children were in the house at the time but quickly escaped after hearing smoke detectors. They suffered minor injuries but are expected to be OK. A dog was also in the house, but was uninjured.
