Camp Fire burning in Butte Co. explodes in size to 5,000 acres, mandatory evacs in place

Update 11:50 a. m. : New mandatory evacuations have been issued for the area of Pentz Road and Highway 70 south to Highway 149 including Butte College. An evacuation order has also been issued for the area of Highway 70 from Concow south including Yankee Hill on both sides of Highway 70. An additional evacuation center has been opened at the Butte County Fairgrounds, located at 199 E. Hazel Street in Gridley. People looking for information about the Camp Fire should not call 911.
