Big auto race in Bakersfield Friday and Saturday

The 5th Annual Winter Showdown at Kern County Raceway roars onto the track this weekend. The Winter Showdown is a 300-lap asphalt late-model racing, with more than $150,000 on the line. Some of the racers scheduled to compete are Derek Thorn, Jeremy Doss, Ty Majeski and Derek Kraus. Gates at the raceway, 13500 Raceway Blvd. , open at 5:30 p. m. Friday and 10:30 a. m. Saturday.
