Bakersfield National Cemetery holds ceremony for 'unaccompanied' veterans

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) – The Bakersfield National Cemetery on Thursday hosted a ceremony to honor “unaccompanied” military service members buried there. Wil Pickard, cemetery director, said these veterans didn’t have family or military honors at the time of their burial. “We ... want the community to understand that all veterans that are interred here have us as a family, and the community members that all came here to support this event are all part of that family,” Pickard said.
