
July Fourth is known for barbecues and beach time, but according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), it's also the deadliest day on the road. IIHS says intoxication is a significant factor in vehicle fatalities on this American holiday, with 47% involving at least one driver with a blood-alcohol concentration of at least .08 - the limit at which drivers are considered legally drunk.
