For Ingrid Archie, California’s criminal justice system is an indistinguishable part of her life. The Los Angeles native first went to juvenile detention at 14-years-old, eventually landing in prison for burglary in 2014- just one day before Proposition 47 passed. She applied for a shorter sentence and had it approved. “So, a three-year sentence that I took turned into me only serving eight months,” Archie said. And Archie isn’t alone.
