
If you've been around the Westchester neighborhood near downtown Bakersfield recently, you might have noticed cars racing through the alleyways. "We actually had a number of emails and phone calls from residents,” said Kristina Budak, who is a trip manager for the city of Bakersfield. Most of them are cutting through the alleys to try and avoid the congestion caused by the 24th street widening project. But starting today, the city is taking steps to stop that.
